Just Chicken Portuguese BBQ: Authentic, Juicy Portuguese-Style Grilled Chicken in East York

Hands down the best chicken I have had in Toronto! It's very juicy and flavorful, the skin is crispy grilled to perfection! We really enjoyed the potatoes too! The chocolate mousse was surprisingly fluffy and light- great dessert after a hearty meal! The owner was very friendly. We dined in and he made it very special for us by serving our food plated - definitely an experience, we will be back!

This restaurant is amazing! The chicken is absolutely outstanding. Best churrasqueira in town by far! The meat is so moist, flavorful, and just outstandingly delicious! I was blown away! And usually I prefer fries over the potatoes, but these were actually amazing. Booked them to cater a shower I'm planning because I enjoyed it so much! Can't wait to go back, and congratulations to the family who owns this spot!

I stopped by on Saturday and the staff were welcoming and gracious. It's a really nice touch to be served my meal on an actual plate with a real fork and knife despite them only having a few stools for seating. The half chicken dinner ($23): chicken was moist, sides were great. The hot sauce wasn't too hot, but it had a lovely viscosity to it. I am integrating this as part of my weekly eating out top 3 to choose from. A wonderful addition to the area!

We loved it! Our first time and got really impressed with everything! Honestly the best chicken we’ve had in the region. Big big portions, super tasty and juicy chicken, sides were really well seasoned and generous too. This time we just tried the chicken breast but they serve other meat options and daily specials. They also have dessert options — the pastel de nata was super fresh! Service was excellent, the place is welcoming and super clean — and it all had that homemade, family-style flavor.

December 13, 2025 I ordered the Bras-style cod and it was absolutely exceptional. The cod was tender and perfectly cooked, mixed with fluffy rice, sautéed onions, olives, and plenty of fresh green parsley. The flavours were really well balanced – savoury, slightly tangy, and very comforting, without feeling heavy. You can taste that care was put into the seasoning and texture of every bite. It’s a dish that feels both homemade and restaurant-quality at the same time. I enjoyed it so much that I would definitely order it again and highly recommend it if you want something truly delicious and a bit different from the usual menu choices. Although the name is Just Chicken, the grilled chicken is absolutely divine – it has become a true staple of our weekend lunches – I decided to also try the pork skewers. I already knew that anything prepared and cooked by this wonderful and welcoming Portuguese family couldn’t possibly disappoint, and I was right. The skewers were tender, exactly as you would expect, and as a delightful surprise, each end was capped with a piece of extraordinary sausage, perfectly enhancing the flavor and keeping all the magic together. We had been craving a traditional Portuguese dish for a long time, and to our surprise, we found Just Chicken Portuguese BBQ so close to us. We decided to give it a try—and we were truly impressed! The chicken portions were just perfect, with an amazing flavor, juicy meat, and a delicious sauce. We also ordered roasted potatoes, and they were simply delightful. We’re so happy to have discovered this family-owned spot—it really feels like everything is made with love and genuine care for their customers. Ever since traveling to Portugal and trying their grilled chicken, I’ve been craving that taste. I’ve tried several Portuguese chicken places in Toronto but they all felt a bit off—until yesterday. This spot is family-run, warm, and welcoming. We ordered the grilled chicken and pork stew. Aside from the small pity that they can’t use charcoal due to regulations, everything was spot on—the seasoning, the tenderness, the juiciness and the temperature of the food were perfect. Truly delicious. What impressed me most is that everything is homemade from scratch. Even the fries are cut fresh right from potatoes and the hot sauce is clearly their own recipe, not bottled. Toronto needs more restaurants like this—authentic, honest, and full of heart. Will definitely come back often.
